Hello all
While at work & one of my Medical Transports that took me to one of the local
Nursing Homes in the Fishersville area . While I was talking to one of the
Nursing Homes staff , I noticed a small bird in their enclosed court yard
hopping around . At the distance I was from the bird I thought it was just a
Sparrow . Then I noticed this bird had some yellow on it . On my way out I
stopped at the door to this court yard & refound the bird . This time I was
only about 10 feet or less & noticed it had a good amount of yellow under the
chin & on the breast .This bird had streaks that ran down the breast & flanks
. Bird had a olive drab back with some pale yellowish to whitish wing bars .
The bird had a yellowish rump patch & a very almost noticeable small yellow
band up behind the neck . The time was about 11: 15 am & when I had to go back
to the home to return a resident I rechecked the court yard & it was gone .
On another note on Bells Lane today while checking out a large flock of
Canada's I may possiblyhave at least two Cackling geese mixed in . They went
over a knoll before I got a good look at their bills . These geese looked
smaller than the rest . I will keep everyone posted . Also I found a Canada
with a gold neck collar with looked like the letters & numbers of R J 98 ? &
one of the Canadas had a red leg band . I have only seen silver leg bands never
red . Any one out there seen different leg bands before ?
