This morning at around 10:00 am the VSO field trip to the Chesapeake Bay
Bridge-Tunnel islands found a CAVE SWALLOW. First noticed by Rexanne Bruno,
the bird gave good views to all as it flew around the building and rocks on
island 4. We watched it until our time was up at 11:00 am. Island 4 is not
accessible without prior arrangement with The Chesapeake Bay Bridge and
Tunnel Commission (http://www.cbbt.com/birding.html).
Other species present included all 3 Scoters, RED BREASTED MERGANSER,
LONG-TAILED DUCK, AMERICAN ROBIN, DARK-EYED JUNCO, COMMON GRACKLE,
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD, GREAT CORMORANT, and BRANT.
