VA Birders,
I was watching a hooded warbler and a couple of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers
today, when another small bird caught my eye. It was my first Cerulean
Warbler of the season. At first it was silhouetted against the sky, but then
it chased an insect nearly to the ground then perched on a wild grapevine. I
was able to get great looks as it worked the vine at nearly eye level. Over
a long winter one forgets what a striking blue they are.
