Virginia Birders,
Today, 7/15/05, two members of the Buchanan County Bird Club, David Raines and
I, (Roger Mayhorn) birded 3 areas of Compton Mt. We ran into several flocks of
feeding birds and managed to find 37 species. The warbler highlights were a
female CERULEAN, 5 AM. REDSTARTS, 9 BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS, 1 BLACK-THROATED
BLUE, 3 BLACK-THROATED GREENS, 1 male CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, 7 HOODED
WARBLERS, 1 WORM-EATING WARBLER, and 1 YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER,
three species of vireo, 1YELLOW-THROATED, 1 BLUE-HEADED and 6 RED-EYED, and 3
species of swallows, BARN, NORTHERN ROUGH-WINGED, and TREE.
