Two locations in Chantilly today yielded several birds of interest. First the
highlights, then full lists at the bottom.
First, this morning I found 32 species at Rock Hill District Park, including 2
probably migrating warblers (Parula and Redstart).
The surprising bird for me there was a pair of White-Throated Sparrows. I
thought I had seen the last of them, at least a week ago.
Then this evening at Ellanor Lawrence Park, we found several highlights:
Yellow-Billed Cuckoo, Redstart, and Chestnut-Sided Warbler. Also some repeat
goodies from earlier this week: Waxwings and Balty Orioles. The Cuckoo was
close to us, helping some tent caterpillars escape their tent nest more quickly
than they'd planned.
