Hello all
This morning I ran my BBS route in Augusta County . This survey has a lot of
grass lands & the bird count was down from last year due to the cutting of
the hay fields . Also the heat of the morning had to do some thing for the
birds not being to active . The survey did have a couple of surprises this
year with the count of 7 Dickcessel's in two areas on Livick Rd. ( Swoope
area ) & a total of 8 Blue Grosbeaks . After the survey I went to the New
Hope & Weyers Cave areas to check on the Dickcessel's & a few other areas
where Blue Grosbeaks hang out . After counting them & adding to this
mornings count I got a total of 16 Dickcessel's & 12 Blue Grosbeaks . All in
all not a bad day of birding in the heat around Augusta County.
