The last 2 weeks of March are typically the peak flights at this site in
James City County, dominated by Turkey Vulture movement. The diversity
increases in April. Today, despite very chilly, steady northeast winds, birds
were surprisingly on the move and Bill Williams and I recorded 112, mostly in
just 1 hour. The winter weather is already arriving tonight, but in 2 or 3
days, there should be a significant push here as birds have seen little
weather favorable for migration.
