There was decent weather in February and with coverage on 17 days since Feb
10th, 144 hawks and vultures, of 7 species, were recorded at College Creek
Hawkwatch, a pretty typical number for the early part of the season. Last
year's 344 was by far the best February in our 16 years.
Black Vulture 6
Turkey Vulture 119
Osprey 6
Bald Eagle 4
Northern Harrier 1
Cooper's Hawk 4
Red-tailed Hawk 4
The warmer air has already brought 60 birds in just the first 2 days of
March. Today, there was a pair of Ospreys on the nearby duck blind, where they
typically nest. There are several active Bald Eagle nests in the vicinity.

Williamsburg. It's conducted by volunteers, weather permitting, daily from
about 9-1. Visitors are always welcome. Data is input at the Hawkcount.org
