Yesterday, during the Newport News CBC, Hayes Williams and I spotted two Common
Eiders in the Chesapeake Bay off of Grandview Beach in Hampton. One was a
female, the other an immature male. We also encountered a cloud of approx.
1000 Tree Swallows on the beach, who would take turns clinging onto the nearby
bushes, landing on the sand, and briefly flying over the water.
