I live on Swift Creek Reservoir in Midlothian, VA, and see Common Loons
from time to time, sometimes solitary and other times in groups, usually
10-12, but on one occasion, 55 at one time. We see the solitary loons
generally during the winter months, and the groups during spring and
fall migration. Yesterday, we had one solitary loon in summer plumage.
We rarely hear them call, but when they do, it brings a smile to my face!
