[va-bird] Craney Island (Portsmouth, VA) 8/8/03

There were 3 Black-bellied Plovers and a Tricolored Heron (an immature) at 
Craney Island this morning.  Both species were in the pool area on the 
southwest side of the north-south road (the road taken after signing in at 
the office).

Other species included:

Mallard
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Snowy Egret
Green Heron
Sanderling
Stilt Sandpiper
Lesser Yellowlegs
Spotted Sandpiper
Willet
Semipalmated Plover
Killdeer
peep (Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers were present)
Royal Tern
Caspian Tern
Gull-billed Tern
Laughing Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Herring Gull
Brown Pelican
Double-crested Cormorant
Osprey
Boat-tailed Grackle
Barn Swallow
Song Sparrow

....and a big flock of Starlings!
