We were out yesterday morning and headed home when interstate was backed
up so we detoured to come through Charles City and went by Crewe's
Channel in Henrico County (off Willis Church Road). We slowed down as
we arrived and there were two very large immature bald eagles by the
road. They flew off onto trees farther out into the channel. There
were about 20 great blue herons, 10 white egrets, and a variety of
smaller birds that I couldn't identify. Also a couple different
varieties of shore birds and a gorgeous red-shouldered hawk.

This morning I woke up early and couldn't sleep so decided to ride back
over there and see if there was anything to see. I was treated to 6
immature bald eagles, three raccoons, a doe and two fawns, a dozen or so
GBH, three very large turtles, shorebirds, egrets, and a variety of
other birds. It was a gorgeous morning up until about 8am when it was
already hitting 88 degrees and about 100% humidity.
