Besides common summer birds, this morning at Cub Run Woods (north of the Rec
Center) in Fairfax County I found a Veery and a Blackpoll Warbler. The Veery
was at the edge of a muddy rain puddle in a grass area 30 feet from the edge of
the woods. I couldn't believe how exposed and open a location this was. It
was with 3 Goldfinches and a Chippie, all drinking or foraging at the edge of
the puddle. Maybe there was something good to eat there.
Other goodies: one each Redstart and Common Yellowthroat.
I will post the full list to eBird later.
