Hi Everyone,
A brief stop early this AM between errands at Daingerfield produced five
Northern Shovelers flying northward, my first for the Fall season here. Other
birds included migrating Bobolink, Blue Grosbeak, and Parula. A Veery landed
in a tree several feet away from me, looking exhausted, and gave its flight
call. Thisngs were heating up until a Cooper's Hawk made a couple of passes,
at which point I left.
For those of you who don't know, Daingerfield Island is an easily-accessible
location just south of Reagan National Airport along the Potomac River, and can
be quite good for migrants esp. in the Fall.
Take Care,
Jay Keller,
Arlington
