My first Junco arrived on Saturday October 24 but stayed only a minute.
Then on Monday the 26th I had 2 on the deck and Tuesday there were 2 again.
Later in the day I saw a flock of little birds in the neighbor's driveway -
mostly Juncos mixed in with House Finches. The last 2 years I didn't see
any until November. So winter is on the way!
I've suddenly had more Goldfinches in the last few days, too - 7 of them at
once. So now I have taken in the hummer feeders and filled the thistle
feeders. I've also been seeing Chipping Sparrows that have been rather
scarce in the last few months.
Well, that's all the excitement around here for now.
