Following up on Elisa Enders' note about the Dickcissel and Northern
Bobwhite quail along Peach Rd, I visited there this morning. Although I
didn't
get there until late morning, the Dickcissel was very cooperative and sang
almost constantly. It sat in the dead tree near Hertz Rd, along with 2
Eastern Kingbirds. The Bobwhites were also calling continuously with 1
wandering up next to the road for a close viewing. Eastern Meadowlarks were
also
prominent as they flew across the road from one field to the other.
For those unfamiliar with this area, it borders the northern part of the
Dismal Swamp and offers some great viewing of field species.
