Hola,
There were a few (three or four) Dickcissels singing along Grassdale Road
in Remington on Monday, and one other bird along the western end of
Savannah Branch Road (directions to both roads are easily had by plugging them
into Google along with "Remington, VA"). There was also a pair of Savannah
Sparrows seen at the intersection of Grassdale and Sumerduck Roads.
Today, over the town of Warrenton, I watched a Great Blue Heron fly a
large, lazy circle over a couple of the strip malls. What made this notable
to
me was that for the entire fifteen minutes or so that I watched this bird
gain altitude, its neck was fully extended. I was certain at first blush I
was seeing my first Fauquier County Sandhill Crane.
Cheers,
Todd
