Hey everyone, Due to traffic congestion on I-95 southbound yesterday, I headed
down Route 17 to the Tidewater area. A stop at Rappahannock River Valley NWR
seemed like a nice diversion, so I checked the Wilna Unit briefly. I don't have
a lot to add to the excellent reports made by others recently, but Dickcissels
are easy to see in the fields there. 6 males were singing. Also, a few
Grasshopper Sparrows were seen, including one on the road. I think about 4 of
those guys were singing, but they were being more secretive than the
Dickcissels. Traffic was getting heavy in Tappahannock -- I finally realized
that the RivahFest is happening this weekend. It helps to read signs!
