We had an unusual site at our pond in Halifax county last weekend; four GB
Herons together and a belted kingfisher. Also saw a small flock of cedar
waxwings while there and I believe an eastern wood peewee. I get the peewee and
flycatcher confused sometimes. Heard whip-poor-wills, a barred owl and
bobwhites.
At home in Pittsylvania county this weekend I saw blue grosbeaks and caught a
glimpse of a barred owl. Recently have had sightings of various other birds:
yellow breasted chat, orchard oriole(I believe), barn swallows, and cliff
swallows, red winged blackbird, indigo buntings, meadowlarks. In Danville have
been seeing house finches and brown headed cowbirds at my office feeder.
