VA Birders,
On Saturday, Dec. 12, I went to the big pond at Roaches Run Waterfowl
Sanctuary on the G.W. Pkwy. across from National Airport and was delighted to
find several species of ducks as well as at least 6 PIED-BILLED GREBES. In
addition to about 30 Mallards, the other ducks (my first of the fall there)
were 2 Am Wigeon, at least 6 Hooded Mergansers, and a Ruddy Duck. Then I
went over to Gravelly Point, across the Parkway, and found nothing but Rock
Pigeons--not even the usual flock of Euro. Starlings!
Good birding,
