At lunch time today, I made a short visit to Lynnhaven Lake near the
intersection of I-64 and Mercury Blvd. This is a relatively small lake
surrounded by homes and apartment buildings. A nice variety of ducks were on
the
water: Canvasbacks(15), Redheads(7), Ring-necked(9), Northern Shovelers(6),
Pied-billed grebes(3), Coots(5), Mallards(4), and Double-crested
cormorants(23). Also occupying the water were a Great blue heron, two Great
egrets
and a mixture(100) of Great black-backed, Herring and Ring-billed gulls.
