The weekly Friends of Dyke Marsh bird walk, attended by 6 birders, enjoyed
beatiful weather this morning and a nice mix of migrants. Waterfowl are
appearing, and we enjoyed a late spurt of warblers, with 7 species
encountered. Among these was a gorgeous adult male black-throated blue,
which treated us to close views. Another notable was a late ovenbird. We
also saw many yellowlegs at the mudflats near Hunting Towers and on the
extensive mats of vegetation in the river, and the first coots of the fall.
