VA-Birders,
Eleven birders joined me for the scheduled weekly Dyke Marsh bird walk this
morning. Highlights included a mewing GRAY CATBIRD on Haul Road between the
entrance and Dead Beaver Beach, two RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, two EASTERN TOWHEES
(one at the entrance, the second midway down Haul Road), a cooperative
CANVASBACK, and at least four WINTER WRENS flitting back and forth across the
trail.
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were active in the picnic area, and before the walk I
observed two adult and one first year BALD EAGLES standing on the flats. It
was nice to see some new faces on the walk as well, and all are welcome to join
in.
