The weekly Sunday walk at Dyke Marsh sponsored by the Friends of Dyke Marsh
and free and open to all, was moderately birdy with 41 species tallied. The
waterfowl shortage continued with only four duck species encountered, We did
see both commonly seen grebes, however. Other highlights included the return of
the Ospreys and Tree Swallows, an Eastern Phoebe and good looks at Brown
Creepers. Bald Eagles put on a nice show. An adult eagle was perched on the
Haul Road nest and appeared to be tearing up a fish and leaning in to the
interior of the nest periodically. We were fairly certain that the bird was
feeding young.
