Four birders came out for a somewhat soggy walk at Dyke Marsh this morning.
These walks are held every Sunday starting at 8:00 AM except during Christmas
Bird Count season and are sponsored by the Friends of Dyke Marsh. The rain was
on and off, but it never got really heavy. We managed to tally 38 species with
highlights including a juvenile Red-shouldered Hawk, a Belted Kingfisher,
Gadwall, Bufflehead, and a Lesser Scaup. There were also a few mixed flocks of
birds along Haul Road which kept us entertained There were likely some birds
far out on the river that eluded us because of the rain and gloom, but we did
our best to ID what we could.
