Cool but beautiful weather greeted the dozen or so participants who filtered in
and out the weekly bird walk at Dyke Marsh in Fairfax County, VA. The trip,
every Sunday at 8 am, is free and open to all and sponsored by the Friends of
Dyke Marsh. The recent cold front spurred migrant activity in many local
parks, and we had a taste of this as well. Highlights include nice looks at a
cooperative PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTARTS, MAGNOLIA WARBLER. At
least 4 BALD EAGLES were spotted and one was in a sort of air duel standoff
with a PEREGRINE FALCON high over the marsh. The full list of species seen or
