Apologies to the list owners but I felt it's worthwhile. From the NABA-Chat
listserve. I didn't take note of any bird or animal behavior during or
afterwards.
This is off-topic, but appropriate for a "citizen science" listserve.
The U.S. Geological Survey tracks earthquake data all over the world. Because
the seismograph network is sparse, they encourage citizens to email information
on how strong earthquakes are felt locally. For today's Virginia earthquake,
see:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/se082311a.html ;
Toward the bottom of the webpage, there is a link labeled, "Did you feel it?"
You can submit your local information there, and also see a map showing how
intensely the earthquake was felt in each zipcode area surrounding the
epicenter.
