Hi,
I have been going to Ellanor C. Lawrence park in Chantilly (
http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/ecl/ ;), fairly regularly for the past few
days. A lot of migration-action is going on here !
Highlight of this morning's bird walk were the increased number of PHOEBEs,
lots of VEERYs, lots of WOOD-THRUSHES, a very co-operating PRARIE WARBLER,
GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER, LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH (singing very loudly near the
stream), increased number of OVENBIRDs (have gone up to 3 from a single one a
couple of days ago), BALTIMORE ORIOLE, ORCHARD ORIOLE, BLACK-THROATED BLUE
WARBLER and SCARLET TANAGER.
Easily seen/heard birds are BLUEBIRD, CATBIRD, CHIPPING SPARROW, TOWHEE,
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER, YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERs, RED EYED VIREOs and the usual VA
resident birds.
