FOS male Indigo Bunting at my office window (!!!) at 8:42 AM. I'd
forgotten to close the blinds in the kitchen sliding glass doors that are
directly
in line with my office windows. The bird was undoubtedly trying to get to
the trees and shrubs visible out back.
I'm surprised it didn't just hit the window and get hurt. One of the
things I've learned is that you should never provide a view of the outdoors
through your windows. Birds often hit windows because they think they can fly
right through, not realizing there's glass in the way. I try to be very
careful about keeping blinds or curtains closed to prevent this situation,
but with this morning's rainy dreariness, I overlooked that the blinds were
open in the kitchen from last evening.
Sincerely,
Marlene
