Hello All,
Along with beautiful snow, we saw our first of season Purple Finch this
morning.
The plumage is intriguing to me because of its 'fresh' look with clear dark
lines and very warm buff. I still do not know how to distinguish a first
year male plumage, but we could not see any purple or rose. The bill seemed
a little small too.
It has to settle for feasting positions slightly apart from the other eight
or so House Finches.
