Best birds today were a pair of VESPER SPARROWs. I visited the Cub Run woods
north of the dog kennel, adjacent to the water plant near Stonecroft Blvd in
western Fairfax County today at 9:30 AM. The two Vespers flew up from the
grass into the top of a tree, counter to what my field guide says. But the
striking white eye rings, fine chest streaking, and distinct white malar
stripes were very clear on both birds.
