Here in Centreville (Fairfax County) - We have 4 FOS BROWN HEADED COWBIRDs at
the feeders. A group of 12 COMMON GRACKLEs have almost camped in the tree
behind our feeder.
Other highlights from the feeder since this morning are:
1 RED WINGED BLACKBIRD
1 FOX SPARROW
2 WHITE THROATED SPARROWs
18 EU STARLINGs
10 MOURNING DOVEs
4 SONG SPARROWs
1 RED BELLIED WOODPECKER
and the usual CARDINALs, HOUSE FINCHEs (1 male with an eye disease), TITMOUSE,
CHICKADEE, ROBINs and JUNCOs.
The most unusual observation -- Grackles, Starlings and Cowbirds are drinking a
lot of water from our heated water tray. Are they drinking to keep themselves
warm?
