Greetings, fellow birders, after a long absence and a move to exurbia...
Among the eleventeen Goldfinches that have been coming for sunflower
seeds at my house, this morning I saw one with stripes. Then another,
then several more. I watched for about 10 mins before reaching for
Sibley, who confirmed that I had 8 or 9 Pine Siskins -- a life bird for me.
Wednesday of this week (11/7) I also had two Purple Finches (1m, 1f)
and a male Pine Warbler. Red-Breasted Nuthatches (also a lifer) have
been delighting me for about a month.
Great start to a promising backyard birding season!
