A comet exploded recently, and can be seen in the ENE sky at about 45
degrees in the thigh
of the constellation Perseus. Look for three bright stars (see diagram).
On a good clear night it can
be seen with the naked eye as a blob much bigger than the stars near it.
This is true even in the
suburbs of Arlington, VA near DC. However it is much easier to scan for it
with low power binoculars.
