Thanks to everyone who suggested some places to look for shorebirds in the
Buckroe/Fox Hill/Phoebus area.
At sunrise this morning at Fort Monroe:
Semipalmated Plover 1
Spotted Sandpiper 18 (distributed along rocky shore)
Semipalmated Sandpiper 3
Least Sandpiper 1
And there was a single Sandwich Tern, with a flock of ~100 Royal Terns (plus
Black Skimmers and assorted gulls) all preening on the beach just south of the
private beach club. The Sandwich Tern was smaller than the royals, with lighter
gray wings, a black thin pointed bill and I could see the pale tip.
