There were at least 20 in the Woodcock Meadow this morning, several singing
(not a song I hear often). Other noteworthy birds:
Tundra swans (flyover) 6
Wood ducks (FOS)3
Phoebe 1
Tree swallows (FOS) 8
Tree sparrow 2
Thrasher (presumably the same one that has been around all winter) 1
Golden-crowned kinglet 1
Savannah sparrow 1
Rusty BB (singing) 2
Cowbirds (singing) (FOS) 4
And a small falcon that I was unable to ID.
Also, this week I added a new bird to my commuter-bus list: a group of
COMMON MERGANSERS off of the Parkway inside the Stone Bridge just south of
Old Town.
