I birded the Hopewell area this a.m. and at dawn at the Hopewell Marina I
momentarily spotted a 1st winter Franklin's Gull in the dawns early light. I
captured an image of the bird but it is grainy and slightly out of focus due to
high ISO and low light. It is the 3rd image down on the following link:

The gull did not linger for long and flew further up the Appomattox River
drainage.
As Arun Bose mentioned in an earlier post the gull flock continues to grow and
is easily in the 10-15K+ range.
Also observed 3 Orange-crowned Warblers in the City today.
