Subject: Seasonal salt marsh survey technicians at national wildlife refuges

US FWS is offering seasonal biological technician openings at 7 different national wildlife refuges on the East Coast. The job involves conducting salt marsh assessments according to a protocol developed by USGS (Hilary & Glenn) and FWS. Some refuges will be requiring these technicians to conduct bird surveys of salt marsh species so experience along those lines is definitely a leg up.

GS-5 positions are often filled by graduate students or those with recently completed masters degrees. BUT, if you are or know of an outstanding undergraduate, particularly one with birding skills, please apply.

ALL applications must be made on USAJobs.gov. The process takes a bit of time....please don't wait until the last minute. Providing a very detailed resume of applicable experience on the USAJobs.gov website helps in the ranking process.

I can answer general questions. Specific questions should be addressed to the refuges involved: Moosehorn NWR, Wertheim NWR, Stewart B. McKinney NWR, Bombay Hook NWR, Prime Hook NWR, Forsythe NWR, Chincoteague NWR.

Please feel free to pass on this announcement.

The position announcement will close Wednesday March 21st. That is a hard and fast deadline.

Thanks,

Susan Adamowicz
