The Northern Virginia Bird Club visited Occoquan Bay NWR in Woodbridge this
morning. The 10 attendees managed to see 59 species while dodging rain
showers. There were several very nice pockets of activity, particularly
along Delta Road. In this area the fox grapes, mistletoe, and other food
sources attracted 3 hermit thrushes, brown thrasher, catbird, both kinglets,
yellow-rumped warblers, 2 brown creepers, among others. Other highlights
were fox and white-crowned sparrows, pine siskin, purple finch, horned
grebe, ring-necked duck, and cedar waxwing. The complete list is below.
