The Northern Virginia Bird Club visited Burke Lake park this morning. The 7
participants enjoyed a productive walk around the west side of the lake, which
actually had some open water. Highlights were a merlin perched up across the
lake from the pier, all three merganser species, lesser scaup, ruddy duck,
fantastic looks at golden-crowned kinglet and creeper, and sharp-shinned hawk.
Thirty-three species were tallied in all. The complete list is below.
