18 members of the Northern VA Bird Club did a bird walk at Long Branch
Nature Center in Arlington Wednesday morning, led by Elizabeth Fenton and
me. The park was quite active, especially in the parking area around the
nature center. We had excellent looks at a male Scarlet Tanager from the
parking lot. 10 warbler species were seen and/or heard. The top one was a
singing male Cape May and everyone in the group got a look at it. We also
had several Chestnut-sided, 2 of which afforded good looks. We also had
good looks at a Veery and a Swainson's Thrush, and had another Swainson's
singing near the parking lot. We also had excellent looks at both Baltimore
and Orchard Orioles. Complete list below.
