Subject: eBird Reports 11-14-2015
Greetings all:
Went to the Buggs Island Lake today to look for Franklin Gulls. Very few
gulls there today only saw 5 Bonaparte Gull, 20 so RB Gull and one immature
Herring Gull.
The best bird of the day was the 15 Bald Eagles at Tailrace Park below the
dam that put on a small show early this morning and when I stopped to look
for the gulls again in the afternoon I had 10 Bald Eagles flying around at
one time giving chase and messing with each other. Quite a show. The Common
Merganser was still hanging around and there was as usual the two Spotted
Sandpipers on the slope of the dam.
Since there wasn’t that many gulls to look through this morning I also went
to Rough Road to look for the area Loggerhead Shrike and didn’t have any
problem with locating him and getting a fair picture of it. Since a shrike
has been seen in the past on Mineral Springs Rd, I also check it out but
found no shrike there.
No gulls at Palmer Point but I did see the returning Pacific Loon but it was
just too far out to get a picture.
Above the dam the wind got up and it became a little on the nippy side but
not too bad.
