Even though the weather wasnât as cooperative as earlier forecast, we had a
birdy get away to Chincoteague Sept. 24-26.
Thursday was on the dreary side, Friday was the quiet day at Kiptopeke, and
Saturday was nice. Snow Goose pool had a lone Gadwall and some Mallards;
Tomâs Cove had Skimmers, Terns, Gulls, but we missed the Marbled Godwit. As
reported elsewhere, lots of storm damage to the sand dune âwallâ, but that
did not keep the beach goers away. The mosquitoes along the Woodland Trail were
especially fierce.
If you go to Chincoteague, it looked like all the places to stay are open, and
there are more businesses open Thursday-Monday. Some businesses are closed on
Tuesday and more are closed Wednesday. Hereâs our bird list:
