Last week I saw an eagle flying overhead in Madison County. We have
occasional bald eagles so that was my first thought, however it appeared
uniformly dark underneath. It was clearly not an adult bald eagle and it
didn't appear mottled as the juveniles I've seen appear to be. It was
fairly high overhead, but not so high that I couldn't distinguish the light
underwing areas of turkey vultures. I do know that golden eagles have been
seen in Madison (at least one was shot & killed ten or so years
ago)----anyone have any thoughts on the likelihood of this being a golden
vs a juvenile bald that somehow appeared more uniformly dark than expected?
Anyone seen golden eagles recently in the Madison County area?
