A slow morning at the gap (only 29 birds at noon), but things became
more active and more interesting in the afternoon. Official tally
will be posted later this evening, but unofficial tally is 220
migrants, including 193 Broad-wings.
Best bird of the day was a sub-adult Golden Eagle, spotted soaring
with 4 Turkey Vultures at 3:25PM. Most unusual sighting was a tight
"Vee" of 11 Anhinga flying NW to SE across the gap at 1:56PM. They
interrupted their flight for a couple minutes of soaring directly
above the count site.
Thanks to BJ, Bev, Bob, Doug, Glenn, Peter, Ralph, and Skip (and
others I may have missed) for their help with today's count.
