Jim Mathews and I birded both sides of the park. Lots of shorebirds. In
addition to the golden-plover (which appeared to be an adult not quite yet
molted into winter plumage):
6 killdeer
100 least
22 lesser yellowlegs
3 greater yellowlegs
7 pectoral
1 solitary
1 spotted
1 dowitcher
Not much in the way of passerines. Most notable was an ovenbird.
We went to the Stone Bridge north of Dyke Marsh, but the most interesting
thing there was a guy who had gotten his jet ski stuck in the mudflats.
Still 3 hours from low tide. He was trying to dig his way back to the
water. I called the police to see if he needed help. At least he had good
views of the numerous yellowlegs and peeps . . . .
