At about 2:45p.m., in Ivy Creek Natural Area, I got some excellent looks at a
GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH.
Observed for 3 minutes at the intersection of the peninsula trail and the red
trail. It was about ten feet above the ground in some dense tangle of branches,
about 4 to 6 feet from me.
It had an obvious gray face with complete thin white eye-ring, pale
gray-brown back upperparts. Back was more gray looking, than brown. Tail
similar to back. There was not the slightest hint of rufous on the primaries or
tail. White throat, bold sharp spots on breast, with a buffy wash underneath.
White belly. I did not note the color of the flanks.
Was stationary for the most part, hoped a few braches at the beginning.
Flow off away from the peninsula when two other birder's arrived, they got only
a glimpse of it.
