I spent a couple hours in the eastern part of Seaford this morning, mostly
along Bay Tree Beach Rd. The tide was almost out, and the Clapper Rails
were actively feeding. Two groups, one of 4 and one of 5, were feeding in
the channel and in the roadside ditch...a total of 13 for the day. These
rails were very accommodating, allowing me to view them for 20 minutes or more
and from as close as 25 feet. Other notables for this Western Shores
Marsh IBA were 2 American Black Ducks and 2 Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrows.
