Following is the count from Sunday's weekly bird walk at Great Falls National
Park, which identified 37 species and included 13 participants. The star of the
day's outing was the splendid weather, although the diversity of avian species
did not disappoint. Included among the day's marvels was a pair of Grey
Squirrels, plastered face-down on the vertical trunk of a large Sycamore with
eyes closed, basking in the sun.
The walk meets in the main parking lot of Great Falls Park at 8:00 a.m. on
Sunday mornings, rain or shine; it does not take place, though, during
electrical storms, heavy snows, or when the trails are icy. All those with an
interest in the natural world - beginning and experienced birders alike -
please join us.
