Following is the tally from Sunday's weekly bird walk at Great Falls National
Park, which identified approximately 38 species.
One of the highlights of the walk involved several noted instances, both
downstream and upstream, of what appeared to be large clouds of mist rising
above the Potomac River. Upon closer observation, however, the clouds actually
were immense swarms of flying insects, highlighted in the rays of the morning
sun.
The walk meets on Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m. in front of the snack
bar/concession stand of the Great Falls Park visitors' center. All birders are
welcome!
